About Shore Venture:

  • Thinking you should be your own boss?
  • Believe you have a great idea for your business?
  • Want to test that idea before you launch the business?
  • Want to know how to get funding for that idea?
  • Need to know more about the business you have already started?
  • Want to know how to figure what the market really needs?
  • Need help understanding how to work the money issues?

These are just a few of the questions that you will be able to answer when you have completed the Shore Venture Program, an entrepreneurship preparatory program supported by the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center, Chesapeake College and SCORE.

What will I learn?

  • What is required in starting a business.
  • Confidence in the feasibility of your business.
  • How to deal with your own strengths and weaknesses.

Program Objectives:

  • The objective of this program is to help individuals to actually open their own business by examining the business idea, analyzing competitive environment and fine turning business skills
  • Help them be able to know how and where to obtain funding
  • Continue mentoring to your business after you launch the businesses

As part of the New Shore Venture, ESEC hopes to encourage top graduates to apply for low interest loans available through the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center. This process for applying will be included in the program.

What is the cost?

Shore Venture is a subsidized program, supported by Maryland Technology Development Corporation and the United States Economic Development Administration

Attendees will be required to purchase the materials for the program. The cost of materials is $125.00 but upon completion of the program $25.00 will be refunded to each attendee that is present for all ten sessions. Classes are held at Dorchester campus, as well as Wye Mills campus
